Baby Gough: Gender Reveal

We had a dr's appointment May 23rd (14 1/2 weeks along), just before leaving for vacation the next day.  When we checked out at our last appointment the lady told us we would be having an ultrasound at the next appointment.  We got to the appointment that morning and the dr came in and just checked the heartbeat. It was a little hard to find because the little thing was hanging out very low in the pelvis.  The heartbeat was strong and in the 150s again.  He told us that all the lab results from the last visit (April 29th) looked good and talked to us about genetic testing. It was a very quick appointment, like always, but we were bummed about not having an ultrasound. I thought it was a bit too soon for an official dr one but I got myself excited anyway.  I had to drop Jason off at Fossil Ridge so he could play in a teachers vs students basketball game.  He had a great time and was quite the celebrity and signed quite a few autographs in yearbooks.  As I was dropping him off,  and getting ready to head to work for a little bit, he asked, "So you are going to find out huh?"  I said, "No, I won't do that without you."  Well, much to my surprise and with a lot of persuading from co-workers, Chelsey did an ultrasound and.....IT'S A BOY!!!!  When I picked Jason up I told him that they made me get the ultrasound and that I found out and that we would go back later in the afternoon so he could see, but he wanted me to tell him anyway and I am glad I did.  His reaction was quite loud and you could tell he was excited.  We went back later that afternoon and Chelsey scanned me again.  It was such an awesome experience. Our little man was just kicking like crazy and he wasn't shy about showing us his parts.   Seeing him looking like a baby instead of a little peanut made it feel much more real.  That evening we showed our family the ultrasound pictures. My mom was still convinced that it was a girl.  We will just have to wait until the 20 week ultrasound to know for sure. We won't buy any boy stuff until then.
