I know everyone says it but I can't believe how fast the year went. It seems like just yesterday was the beginning of 2012 but at the same time, a lot has happened this year and we have plenty to be thankful for.
Jason finished 2 more semesters at SUU and only has a semester of student teaching left! He will be at Fossil Ridge Intermediate in Mrs. Miller's 7th grade Utah History class. He is working at IFA part-full time and is loving it. He will have fewer hours once school starts in January.
Kylie is still working in radiology for Intermountain HealthCare and is enjoying it. She works at a lot of places, keeps busy and is grateful that she is able to help out while Jason is in school.
Jason coached his first season of freshmen football for Snow Canyon as offensive line coach and enjoyed every minute of it. He is gearing up for another season and will be helping with off-season conditioning and weight training. In the fall, he will be coaching the JV as the offensive/defensive line coach and special teams coordinator with his brother Dustin as head JV coach. He will be very busy, but he will be with the same boys again so it will be great.
We were able to see the Blue Angels in the Thunder Over Utah Air Show in March.
We spent some much needed vacation time in the Bahamas/Florida in May for our 2 year anniversary and then we traveled to Logan in July.
In June, we crammed our car as full as it could possibly get to camp in Pine Valley for a few days alone. That is when we decided for sure that we need a truck!
Kylie was able to fly out to Florida with Mom to visit Leah, Jason and their new baby Finnley, who was born August 6th. He is the cutest little guy and we hate that they are so far away. They will be visiting in February, so we couldn't be happier.
Kylie turned 23 in August and Jason turned 27 in December.
We enjoyed all the family time we were able to have and have also enjoyed lazy time together talking, laughing and watching addicting shows on Netflix/Hulu like Bones, Go On and Prison Break.
We enjoyed our callings in the primary, teaching the 10 and 11 year old hooligans for about a year. We were asked by our primary presidency in November if we enjoyed our calling and if we would like to stay. We told her that we loved it and enjoyed working with the kids, but the next week we found out that we were being released. Kylie was called to do the ward bulletin and we were told that Jason would be getting a stake calling and that they weren't sure what it was. We had to wait for about 3 weeks before we heard anything about a calling. He was called to be the Stake Young Men;s Sports Coordinator. He is already keeping busy with church basketball.
Lots of new additions to our families were born in 2012 and we are looking forward to more family time.
We also decided this year that we were going to stop taking measures to prevent pregnancy, starting at the end of July. It was a decision that we had talked about previously and had come to the decision that we would make those changes at the end of the year, but Jason, surprisingly, thought otherwise after a lot of contemplation, and we thought it would be best to stop taking birth control earlier than we had anticipated. The months following were a little bit nerve racking as there were quite a few months where Kylie's regular cycle was late, sometimes almost 2 full weeks. We aren't quite sure if we are ready to be parents, but we are sure that when the time is right, something will happen.
2013 will be a great year full of a lot of changes for sure. We may become parents and possible homeowners. Jason will become a teacher and hopefully find a full-time teaching job in the area. We are excited to see what this year brings and will enjoy making many memories.
How in the world did I get talked into this?
