I don't ever talk about work but I thought this merited a blog post. I FINALLY got moved to FULL-TIME STATUS!!! I have been working at Dixie Regional Medical Center in in General Radiology since I was a student. I got hired June 24, 2010 and worked nights and other random shifts until I graduated and passed my national registry in December. For the most part I worked full-time hours until I got out of school and then worked full-time hours plus overtime continually after that. I worked weekends, nights, evenings, days, holidays, pain management, fluoroscopy and I also worked at all of our other x-ray locations including River Road Clinic, 400E, Hurricane and HPC. If someone asked me what me schedule was I couldn't give them an answer. I never knew when I worked. It was totally random and changed often. It was frustrating that I worked everywhere/whenever I was asked to and I didn't get any reward for my efforts. I was still only given PRN status until I was finally given Part-Time status over a year into working. I also take care of education for the entire radiology department and that takes a lot of added time and effort. I was starting to think negatively about my job and wanted to quit putting in so much effort if I wasn't going to get any benefits from it.
Finally, after realizing that I need to be grateful for the wonderful job I do have, I got moved to Full-Time! I got a letter in a stack of mail I grabbed as we were heading on vacation on July 19th. Apparently HR audited my records at my 2 year mark and granted me full-time! That means Jason gets to have insurance in January! I am covered by my parents still so that has been nice, but it has been extremely stressful not having Jason covered by insurance, especially since he drives to Cedar a lot for school. Luckily, we haven't had too many major medical things to pay for for him. Moving to full-time also means I get to use my PTO for vacations and sick day and not have to worry about not being able to pay bills if I have to take time off. Yay!!!
How in the world did I get talked into this?
